Ben MelinBen Melin has worked in the accounting profession for over 15 years and has extensive experience in business advisory, corporate finance, private client services, wealth management and tax consulting. He is currently a Principal at Crowe Horwath Melbourne and has previously held senior positions at The Myer Family Office and Pricewaterhouse Coopers. He specialises in providing accounting, taxation, business advisory, corporate finance and estate, intergenerational and succession planning services to his clients.  He is a Chartered Accountant, holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree at Melbourne University and is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and a Chartered Tax Adviser with the Tax Institute of Australia.

 

 

Margaret HarrisonMs Margaret Harrison was a Senior Research Fellow at the Australian Institute of Family Studies prior to being appointed the Senior Legal Adviser to the Honourable Alastair Nicholson in the Family Court of Australia. Since her retirement from that position she has continued her interest in children’s law and rights issues by her writing and involvement in several Australian Research Council funded research projects.

 

 

 

 

Sally NicholesSally Nicholes, is a practicing lawyer with a special interest and expertise in human rights and family and children’s law, including international children's disputes and child abduction matters . She has published articles on a number of child related topics and has given presentations to professional development seminars and special interest conferences on these topics. Ms Nicholes is  a member of several professional committees and of other Non Government Organisations operating in developing countries.

 

 

  

The Children's Rights International Board includes a number of eminent persons in the area of children's rights, justice and welfare. The Board is responsible for the corporate governance of Children’s Rights International and for the direction and oversight of its activities.

 

Hon. Alastair Nicholson, AO RFD QCChairman of Childrens Rights International

The Hon. Alastair Nicholson was an Australian judge for 22 years during which time he served as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Victoria, a Justice of the Federal Court of Australia and for 16 years, as Chief Justice of the Family Court of Australia. Since 2003 he has been an Honorary Professorial Fellow of the University of Melbourne, currently attached to the Faculty of Law. He has written and spoken extensively on issues relating to human rights and the rights of children and youth at many Australian and international conferences. He has been heavily involved in the planning and development of child justice programs in Cambodia and Vietnam and in urging a new and enlightened approach to issues associated with Indigenous people in Australia. In particular he has joined with the former Prime Minister, the Hon Malcolm Fraser AC in criticising regressive Australian Government policies towards Aboriginal people in the Northern Territory. He is currently acting as a consultant to the Queensland Government on the issue of the legal recognition of traditional adoption amongst Torres Strait Islanders. Since 2003 he has chaired the National Centre against Bullying of children in Australia and has spoken and written on the law relating to bullying.
